Today we were thankful to join the Great Lakes Church homeless outreach team on outreach!
What a fun & great group. Today the team served hot chili & gave out a variety of food & warming items to those in need.
Thanks to the wonderful generosity of many, we were able to share:
35+ Military sleeping bags
12 Military sleeping mats
120+ hand warmers
An empowerment coat
Men’s coats, layers & earmuffs
Women’s coats, gloves, boots, hats, & scarves
Also, our journey today included:
– Sharing two sleeping bags and a mat with Matt & Chris who were sleeping under a bridge
– Handing out coats, scarves, gloves & hats at outside Elyria public library (many homeless go there to stay warm during the day)
– Donating 3 sleeping bags & 2 mats with Rich & Jim at a tent city in the woods
– Sharing winter warming items and hand warmers with many, including Larry, near the Lorain public library
– Giving an Empowerment Coat (special coat that converts to a sleeping bag) to Dan, who usually does not often accept gifts, but did today
– Share with Bruce a sleeping bag & mat
– Providing a mat to an individual who sleeps in a shed
Another day we’re reminded just how fortunate we all are, and how much we receive in return when we give to others.
