25 MILITARY WINTER SLEEPING BAGS FOR AKRON’S HOMELESS

“Hundreds may be sleeping outside” in Akron. That is what we heard when we visited The Homeless Charity and Village (HCV) on a snowy day today.

After being saddened to see many of the homeless at the HCV evicted last weekend and sent back to live in the woods, we decided to gather up & head down there to drop off a number of military winter sleeping bags and hand warmers for those in need.

We hate to think of others suffering out in the winter cold, and are determined to do what we can to help them stay warmer, especially to avoid hypothermia and frostbite.

It’s because of your continued love & support that we are able to do this, so thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Today on our journey we:
– Shared a tent, sleeping pad, hand warmers, and 25 military winter-grade sleeping bags
– Met Lauren, a board member of HCV, who told us the needs are great this winter, and though the exact # is not known, possibly “hundreds” (100-200+) of homeless may be staying outside in Akron
– Met Brett, who was kind enough to help us unload the sleeping bags, and who we also gave a ride to AMHA downtown to see if he could qualify for affordable housing
– Chatted w/ Sage, who helps runs The Homeless Charity and Village and who we admire very much for his efforts to help those in need in Akron

Items the Homeless Charity and Village needs the most right now is winter gear. Tarps, 4 person tents, blankets, sleeping bags, hand warmers, socks, hats, gloves. If you’d like to assist, you can message them at: https://bit.ly/2RhQDiy
