A year ago we brainstormed an idea with our awesome friend Sarge, the CEO at The Sub Zero Mission about the idea of possibly creating a coat specifically for the homeless, that is designed with warmth & winter protection in mind.
The coat’s design includes a few unique features:
– An Anorak (pullover-style jacket) used in Polar regions
– A few specially-positioned pockets for hand-warmers located: a) In the front (over the heart); b) Center of the back; and c) In a special central hand-pocket location
– A waterproof, windproof, yet ‘breathable’ shell (similar to Gore-Tex)
– Thinsulate insulation for a super-warm jacket (w/ an R-factor of > 2 [very warm])
– A built-in hat + tuck-away face-mask, for added face warmth
– An “NFL quarterback-style” hand-warmer pocket for the hands, which also will include a zipper pocket to hold a hand-warmer to keep the hands extra warm
A very special thank you to our friend Jen for her awesome help over the last year putting this prototype together!
Also a huge thank you to The Sub Zero Mission for brainstorming the idea! We’re excited to see where this could go together ? …
