About a week ago we received an email from Kristen, who wrote "There is a lady I know who does not have a winter coat and she just started a job (doesn’t pay very much at all) and she either walks to work or as I saw last night she stands outside in the cold and waits for a bus transportation to pick her up. Last night she waited outside for almost 40 min. I would like to help her out getting her one if possible!"
Thanks to our homeless outreach partner in Lorain, OH we received a few Empowerment Coats (https://www.empowermentplan.org/the-coat) this year. These innovative and weather-resistant coats designed and built by women out of Detroit who themselves have experienced homelessness, are very warm and can transform into a sleeping bag or be worn as an over-the-shoulder bag.
Last week we shipped the jacket to Kristen, who on Thursday found her and got her the coat, noting she was incredibly grateful. Well, we feel the same. Not only to be so thankful for our supporters and being able to share such a donation with someone in need, but also thankful for people like Kristen, who saw a need, and made it her mission to help fill it. Thank you Kristen!
