OUTREACH WITH LITTLE ANNIE’S HOPE TRAIN AT SECOND CHANCE VILLAGE

Today we were thankful to join Annie from Little Annie’s Hope Train on outreach at Second Chance Village in Akron!

What a great & rewarding trip as always. Today the Winter Warmth Mission and Little Annie’s Hope Train gave out a variety of food, toiletry & warming items to those in need.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of many, the WWM was grateful to be able to share:

30+ Military sleeping bags
15 Military sleeping mats
5 Emergency shelters / sleeping bag covers
1 Empowerment Coat
1 Camping Mattress
160 Hand warmers
Men’s coats, layers, boots, scarves, gloves, hats, and socks
Women’s coats and layers

Also, our journey today included:
– Meeting a few other residents who kindly helped us unload the supplies
– Getting a great tour of the facilities at Second Chance Village from Gary (Thanks Gary!)
– Meeting Andrew, who at just 31 is new to Second Chance Village, and showed us his tent and used some of the military mats provided to help keep his tent floor dry
– Meeting Sage Lewis the founder of Second Chance Village (great meeting you!)
– Learned the building they have some great facilities at (shower, bathrooms, laundry, kitchen, other rooms, etc.) was built in 1850
– Being amazed at how great the volunteers and people that made the Second Chance Village what it is today did it in just 2 years time
– Learned that the community & volunteers there also go on homeless outreach in the Akron area to tent cities etc. to share warming and other items with those in need as well (how cool)

A great way to spend a warmer day in Cleveland, yet hoping we helped those in need when the weather temperatures drop again next week and during the rest of the winter season.
